Open Access Coordinator
On 29 April 2021, an Open Access Coordinator for scientific publications and research results was established at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice.
He has been appointed until 31 December 2021 by prof. Wojciech Pluskiewicz, MD, PhD.
The tasks of the SUM Open Access Coordinator for scientific publications and research results include:
- supervision and monitoring of the implementation of the PPM Openness Policy (in Polish) as an institutional openness policy at SUM by, among other things, verifying the level of openness of publications by SUM staff produced with public funding or co-funding;
- cooperation on open access policy with the organisational units of the SUM, in particular the Library, the Organisational and Legal Department and the Technology Transfer Centre;
- promoting open access to publications and research data among the SUM academic community and communicating the PPM Openness Policy, including through regular reports in the SUM Newsletter;
- coordinating the work related to the creation, maintenance and development of open access infrastructure at the SUM;
- organising training courses in cooperation with the ŚUM Library for staff and doctoral students of the University on the subject of open access;
- coordinating the implementation of an institutional strategy for the management of open research data;
- monitoring of openness trends and good practices in this area.
Case management by the SUM Open Access Coordinator for scientific publications and research results is handled by the Main Library.
