Zadania Działu Repozytorium i Promocji Otwartej Nauki

Repository and Open Science Department:

  1. cooperates with the SUM Coordinator for open access to scientific publications and research results,
  2. runs and edits the local SUM Institutional Repository,
  3. co-creates the inter-university Polish Platform of Medical Research,
  4. supervises the metadata entered into the SUM Repository and the local platform of the Polish Platform of Medical Research,
  5. identifies and acquires objects and collections for digitisation and placing in the SUM Repository,
  6. qualifies, recommends for digitization, compiles the resources of the SUM Library and places them in the SUM Repository and the Silesian Digital Library,
  7. keeps statistics of the SUM Repository and the local platform of the Polish Medical Platform,
  8. organises training on Open Science,
  9. develops materials promoting Open Science.
  10. documents the functioning and achievements of the University on an ongoing basis through:
  • developing and updating biographies of professors and habilitated doctors in the database: Professors and habilitated doctors currently employed at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice,
  • presenting the list of profiles of honorary doctors (doctor honoris causa), who is or were: employees of SUM and were awarded h.c. doctorates of other universities in the Honorary Doctorates database for scientists from SUM and scholars to whom SUM has awarded the doctorate h.c. in the base of Honorary Doctors of the Medical University of Silesia,
  • keeping the university calendar from its inception in 1948,
  • acquiring, editing, and posting the memories of former researchers and students of the Medical University of Silesia,
  • development and publication of 18 monographs devoted to the university and the history of medicine in the region,
  • publishing catalogs of doctoral and habilitation dissertations conducted at the Medical University of Silesia in the years 1948–1998, Volume I - doctorals dissertations, Volume II - habilitation dissertations,
  • collects, organizes, and stores information sources on the history of medicine and pharmacy in Upper Silesia and creates the database: History of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Upper Silesia Documentation Centre (CDDMiF); collects iconography in this regard.
