Another meeting of academic librarians from Silesian universities has been organised.
On September 11, 2026, at the Education and Medical Simulation Centre (the Medical University of Silesia) we hosted colleagues from, among others, the Library of the Silesian University of Technology, the Scientific Information Centre and Academic Library (University of Silesia and University of Economics in Katowice) Theological Library, Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice and the Main Medical Library (GBL Branch Library in Katowice) to share experiences, draw inspiration from one another, and seek new solutions to the challenges of our daily work
The meeting was organized by SUM Branch Library in Katowice-Ligota with a reading room in Katowice and Bielsko-Biała.
The meeting began with a lecture by Dr. Karol Zięba, a forensic medicine specialist, who gave insight into the inner workings of his fascinating profession. Next, during workshops conducted using the World Café method, we worked together to find solutions to the problems we face in academic libraries.
There was no shortage of international inspiration either. Martyna Tymkiewicz from the Bibliography and Bibliometrics Department (SUM Library) shared her experiences from participating in the 90th IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Busan. She spoke about organizing the trip and presented her most interesting observations from South Korea, highlighting the Korean approach to librarianship.
It was a day full of meaningful conversations, the exchange of experiences, and positive energy. We thank all participants for their presence, engagement, and the time we spent together.
See you next year and at future recurring events!
