Speakers: <\/strong>Ms Ewa Nale\u015bnik, MA and Mr Pawe\u0142 Bojko, PhD - editors in CDDMiF Database
History of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Upper Silesia Documentation Centre (CDDMiF) - a virtual database that serves, among other things, to document the history of health care in Upper Silesia in the broadest sense, including the history of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. The speakers will talk about the rich archival resources of the database and explain why it is an excellent source for regional research in the history of medicine.

The RAD-on system is a tool for collecting, analyzing and sharing data on science and higher education in Poland. It was created as part of the Integrated Information Network on Science and Higher Education, the largest public system in Poland in terms of the scope of data collected. The presentation will outline the functionality and types of data included.

The Polish Medical Platform (PPM) is a knowledge base aggregating data from Polish universities and medical institutions, which focuses on integrating the scientific community in areas related to health care. Data on the platform is a reliable source of knowledge also for people not related to medicine, but looking for information in this field. During the meeting, the participant of the workshop will get acquainted with the structure of the database with particular emphasis on the module presenting profiles of scientific workers.

Not only Google, or WHAT to know so you don't have to search too long and where to find out about IT. The practical workshop will help to orient oneself in the available services and areas of the Internet that allow searching for the required texts, papers and materials in the course of creating scientific papers, all using the example of the Polish Medical Platform, medical databases and electronic collections available at the Medical University of Silesia, as well as electronic sources available to the public.

The purpose of the workshop is to introduce participants to the functionality of the Mendeley program in the context of collecting bibliographic descriptions and preparing footnotes and appendix bibliographies of the texts created. After a brief theoretical introduction, the presenters will discuss and demonstrate in detail the functioning of the program's options; event participants will work at individual computer workstations.
